OUR STORY DID NOT BEGIN WITH THE TRANS-ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE.
African American history is rich and diverse, extending far beyond the period of slavery, and our mission is to reflect on and take pride in our journey. Despite the challenges of enslavement, we have shown incredible resilience and strength. We must cherish our heritage and share the stories of our ancestors, whose legacy lives on through our memories. Marrow Couture aspires to keep their spirit alive. Learning about their accomplishments is a source of inspiration and pride. We are here to celebrate our history, honor our perseverance, and inspire future generations with the determination that has shaped our communities.

The events of May 25, 2020, highlighted America’s treatment of the descendants of those who greatly contributed to its financial foundation. Despite overcoming challenges and making significant contributions, our ancestors are often overlooked and mistreated.
Our ancestors worked under severe conditions, providing the labor needed for the South’s economic growth during the Antebellum period. Though they faced hardships and lacked education, they made advancements in various fields without compensation and were freed without resources
As America increasingly neglects this history, with some states removing Black American History from schools, our significant contributions risk being forgotten. For instance, notable buildings like the White House and the US Capitol involved substantial enslaved labor.
As a graduate of a historically Black college, earning a degree in Mass Communications, my goal is to promote awareness and pride in our heritage. Marrow Couture was established to educate and engage in meaningful discussions about our achievements despite hardships. We aim to share cultural information, dispel myths, uncover lesser-known facts, and make Black American History as relevant as the daily news.

In my opinion, you don’t choose the things you believe in, they choose you. Over the past few years, my elevated consciousness about my experiences as an African-American male and our condition in this country prompted me to ask questions and seek answers to those questions. I discovered that many of the issues plaguing people of African descent pertain to us not knowing our history. Therefore, Marrow Couture was born. With unique and original designs, Marrow Couture will share information about Blacks that has been intentionally suppressed, in hopes of unlocking our enormous potential.
